For the Americans who leave Belarus or Russia to travel home, the United States is waiving a prerequisite for negative COVID-19 tests.

The United States is forgoing a prerequisite for negative COVID-19 tests from Americans passing on Belarus or Russia to travel home, the State Department said on Thursday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said it would practice its prudence to permit travel by U.S. residents, long-lasting occupants, and holders of substantial settler visas who were in one or the other country by a Feb. 28 remove date.

Prior, it made a comparable waiver for Americans leaving Ukraine who had been in the country by Feb. 10.
